“THE BATTLE OF THERMOPYLAE” was fought in 480 BC between the Achaemenid Persian Empire under “XERXES 1” and an alliance of Greek city-states led by Sparta under “LEONIDAS” the king of Sparta!!!
A force of 7.000 allied Greek soldiers blocked the pass of Thermopylae from the invading Persian army numbering between 70.000 and 300.000 soldiers.
They fought non-stop 3 days & 3 nights, until a Greek traitor ‘Efialtis’ handed over a secret passage in order to encircle them.Seeing this bad development,”LEONIDAS” let the rest of the Greeks flee to save themselves and decided to face the Persians alone, until eventually!!!
“LEONIDAS” and his 300 breavhearts held their position for at least 7 days before being overrun. The battle has since become a symbol of courage against overwhelming odds!!!
The material is ALABASTER,which is the best quality of hard stone, after marble!!! Its about 5 times lighter than marble,so its more easy to be transported!!!
As you can see all the pieces are made by hand one by one,and the same applies to the chess board, where the details of the battle are much more intense!!!
Each team has its own safe boxes in which the pawns are nested in sockets for more safety during transport.
The base has its own separate box, with the special addition of bubble paper, makes its transportation particularly safe!!!
A special gift for unique people!!!
